Empathy, or the ability to recognize emotions, is a critical skill in the workplace, and one that we cover in this elearning course, Empathy in the Workplace. In this course we will discuss what empathy is, why it is important for a productive environment, and why this is such a difficult quality to develop. We will introduce the concept of empathy, review the three stages, and discuss how it differs from sympathy. Finally, we will delve into the three types of empathy – cognitive, emotional and compassionate – and show how you can develop your skills in these areas to become a successful empathizer. This course, Empathy in the Workplace, includes a video lesson, downloadable student resources and a short online quiz to test your comprehension of the material.
