Our Confined Spaces for Employees: 05. Confined Spaces for Construction course identifies two key differences between general and construction industry standards. In 2015, when the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) decided to create a separate confined spaces standard for the construction industry, officials hoped to save 780 lives per year. With the development of the rule, the administration recognized that construction is a unique industry with its own set of challenges. Workplace safety precautions can prevent hundred of fatalities from happening. In this course, we cover five requirements under the new construction rule: the controlling contractor, the competent person, monitoring, naming an attendant to safeguard the work site, and suspension of a permit when entry conditions change. Part of our Confined Spaces For Employees series, the Confined Spaces for Construction course includes a video, audio narration, downloadable materials, and a quick quiz. Take this course along with others in the Confined Spaces For Employees series to enhance workplace safety in hazard-prone spaces.
